ONLINE FACILITIES

Workstations throughout the library connect patrons to various information resources. The online catalog provides access to materials in the library: books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, most federal documents and all Wisconsin and international documents, as well as music recordings housed in the Arts Media Center (College of Arts and Communication). Internet connections link users to information resources of the world: library catalogs, electronic texts and journals, and full-text services and journal indexes. Most workstations run on Windows 2000 and include Microsoft Office 2000. There are a few CD-ROM databases that must be used at designated workstations near the Reference Desk.

Complete listings of electronic databases available to UW-Whitewater researchers are available from the Library's homepage on the World Wide Web, both an alphabetical list by database titles and listings of databases arranged by subject areas.

Off-campus access to most of these electronic resources is available to UW-Whitewater students and staff. Ask reference librarians for details, or see the "Library Services for Off-Campus Users" Webpage for instructions.

Reference librarians provide online search service using databases from the STN commercial system. Users must pay the commercial system fees.

Guides to the most-used system may be found in the reference room and on the library Webpage.
